The objectives of the course will include describing the significance of Health and Hygiene promotion in any emergency situation, establishing an inter-relationship between the environment, population, displacement, water, sanitation facilities health, and hygiene behavior. Students have to understand the range of possible sanitation and vector-borne disease control measures. At the end of the course, participants should be able to describe the skills of communication plans with specific requirements for public health projects.

- Transition issues (from emergency to rehabilitation)
- Decommissioning and storage of equipment
- Rapid assessments, reporting, and monitoring
- Disease surveillance
- Coordination and partnerships

- Environmental sanitation (solid waste management, site clean-up)
- Excreta disposal and latrines
- Site selection
- Water source identification
- Water pumping
