HI 011: CERTIFICATE IN PREPARING FOR HUMANITARIAN PRACTICE
This course will acquaint the students on how humanitarian practice is funded and how employees ought to be responsible for any monies that they are provided to take care of humanitarian situations. The course is hinged on values, ethics, and practices that underpin humanitarian action. It sheds light on the organizations that compose humanitarian response which include humanitarian law, refugee law, and disaster response law. It also emphasizes the rights of those who are seeking asylum, how they ought to be treated, and how humanity is supposed to be explored even if they are in the situations that they face.
The topics to be covered include ;
- The law in action-humanitarian law, refugee law, Netherlands disaster response law; how the laws are enforced, and how those who thwart the laws are punished.
- Dealing with violations
- Responding to consequences of war
- The humanitarian perspective-look at the humanitarian acts
- Limits in armed conflicts-limiting the devastation of war photos, focus on child soldiers, focusing on weapons, and focus on women, children, and people with disability including those at old age
Course Begins on the 1st of every month for three months.
